I have decided to take part in the Half Ironman (70.3) Event in Marbella, Spain in 2021 and I will be raising funds for C-SAW which is a Mental Health Service in Clonmel, County Tipperary. This is a completely voluntary service which provides a confidential listening service as well as coffee mornings which are all Free Of Charge. I chose C-SAW because it is local and also because there is currently a lack of mental health services in the Tipperary are so the work they are doing is vital to the area. Mental Health is something that is very dear to me having gone through my own personal journey as well as knowing many people who had their own personal journeys.

When I first heard about the Ironman event, I knew it was something I would always aspire to do. It is a complete physical and mental test and also a great way to get your fitness back on track. This event is a 1.9km swim in the ocean, a 90km bike ride and than finishing with a half marathon of 21km. Not easy!

I have started training with a local triathlon coach so I am in very good hands. I am new to open water swimming so this will be a challenge. I am also relatively new to the bike however I have trained in groups before. I have ran a few half marathons however this was back in 2011/2012 so the training is pretty much couch to Ironman.

I would appreciate any support with this event. Be it encouragement, sharing with your friends or a small donation to C-SAW Charity. My GoFundMe page is https://www.gofundme.com/f/ironman-in-aid-of-csaw-mental-health-service?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1

I will be making updates now and than and please feel welcome to follow my progress!

Thanks,

Cathal
